I would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people as the Traditional Owners and original custodians of this land, and pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
Who am I and what I stand for?
SOCIAL INCLUSION
Drawing on my experience as a mother of three and past President of the Glen Iris Primary School parents’ association, I will advocate for families and push for the development of inclusive programs that cater to everyone's needs.
I am committed to championing initiatives in Solway that focus on improving mental health outcomes and reducing social isolation by fostering community access to support services. I fully support the Boroondara Disability Access and Inclusion Plan and will ensure this remains progressive and collaborative in its implementation.
I’m passionate about creating environments where every community member, regardless of culture or ability, can participate and thrive.

VOLUNTEERISM - My Story
From a very early age I’ve been involved in volunteering. I’m proud to have had the opportunity within Boroondara, on a number of occasions, to discuss the deep connections and enjoyment volunteering brings.
As a guest speaker for the Boroondara Equation, International Volunteer Managers Day and the Council’s Sports Club Forum, the number one question I get asked is “how can I help?”
Based on my experience working with Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre which includes opportunities for highly skilled professionals, I will continue to promote and advocate sustainable volunteering opportunities for Solway residents.
CLIMATE ACTION
As someone that cares deeply about our environment I’m committed to working towards a better future for this generation and the next. Walking Indie & Monty (our dogs) along Gardiner’s Creek everyday and enjoying the surrounding natural environment are things I treasure about Solway.
Boroondara has a Climate Action Plan (CAP) and I will continue to raise awareness and promote practical and sustainable solutions through collaborative governance.
I’m confident that together we can work towards enhanced biodiversity, can add a sustainable lens to Council decisions and offer community members practicable ways to get active and involved in a greener future for Solway.
RECREATION
As President of Burwood Cricket Club and co-founder of the Glen Iris Scorpions Basketball Club, I have championed inclusive sports programs such as All Abilities Blast, Social Sixes, and Walking Cricket. I am committed to helping other sporting clubs become more inclusive through education and community engagement.
I appreciate ageing and/or other factors such as cost can be barriers to participate. I’m committed to advocating and promoting healthy recreation opportunities for all Solway residents, and to connect organisations to grants that are currently available.
Additionally, I support the ongoing development and maintenance of bike and walking trails throughout Solway as they promote active transport, healthy living, and a stronger connection to nature and the environment.

Testimonials
Here's what some fellow community leaders have to say about Kate and how she builds our
community through collaboration & connection:
Coral Ross AM
CF FAICD
Mayor Emeritus & Boroondara Councillor (2002 - 2020)
To be a good councillor you need to listen and understand our community. Kate understands Solway because she has been actively involved in the community from Kinder, school and sporting groups. She’s transformed Burwood Cricket Club, with it winning the VicSports Community Club of the Year 2023. She is independent and has never been a member of a political party - so her only loyalty is to local residents rather than a political party.
Dr Stella Barber
Historical and Archival Consultant
Kate is one of those rare sporting club presidents who thoroughly understands the value of history and heritage within the community.
She possesses a nuanced understanding of how history can help us grow in shaping our futures.
Paul Klooster
Proprietor
Ashburton Meats
Over the past 19 years I’ve witnessed firsthand Kate’s passion, drive, and determination - always accompanied with a smile – for supporting community projects. I’ve been proud to work with her on many occasions and seen what she has achieved for our community. It’s without hesitation that I fully support Kate to become our next Councillor for Solway and wish her well for the future.
Neil Dalrymple
President Eastern Cricket Association
I have known Kate over the past couple of years through her voluntary role as President of the Burwood Cricket Club. She has led this club with pride, passion and vision. I believe that Kate is very well equipped to become a Councillor due to her professional and voluntary experience and importantly, she understands the role that local government plays in supporting and assisting the many sporting clubs and organisations in our local communities.
